Incredible Men,
Your kids don't need you to make more money.
They need you to find your purpose — and watch you walk in it.
Those are two very different things. And far too many fathers never stop long enough to know the difference.
Here's a truth that rewired how I think about provision:
A fish doesn't struggle to swim.
An apple tree doesn't strain to bear fruit.
An eagle doesn't take a course on flying.
They produce according to their design.
And when something operates according to its design — it doesn't just function. It thrives. Naturally. Effortlessly. In a way that effort alone could never manufacture.
You are built the same way.
"For we are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do." — Ephesians 2:10
God did not design you to force a career, manufacture outcomes, or grind against the grain of who He made you to be. He wired you with specific gifts, passions, and purpose — and when you walk in that design, provision follows with far less friction.
Here's the thing about Deuteronomy 8:18 that hits different when you actually sit with it:
"Remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you the ability to produce wealth."
He gives you the ABILITY. Not the grind. Not the hustle. The ability — which means it's already inside you. The capacity to create, build, and provide is something God deposited in you before you ever drew a paycheck.
But here's where it breaks down for a lot of men:
We chase money first. Then we search for meaning inside it. And when the success arrives but the satisfaction doesn't — when we're earning but empty — we go numb. We come home distracted. We provide financially but we disappear personally.
And our kids feel every bit of it.
So here's what I want you to carry into this week:
When you know who you are and what you were made for, you will be a better provider on accident than you ever could be on purpose.
Read that again.
Identity is the foundation. Purpose is the engine. Provision is what naturally flows when a man is operating in his design.
"Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you. Before you were born I set you apart." — Jeremiah 1:5
Now — I know what some of you are thinking.
Pastor D, I'm not living in my purpose right now. I'm just trying to keep the lights on.
I hear you. And here's my word for you:
Fall in like with your day job until you can fall in love with your dream job.
Don't despise where you are. God can, will and does use every season. But don't stay comfortable being disconnected from what He built you to do. Start working on it — even if it's one hour early in the morning before the house wakes up. Even if it's slow. Even if nobody sees it yet.
Your design is not just about your career. It's about your legacy.
Your kids are not watching your tax return. They are not impressed by your title.
They are watching YOU — the man behind all of it. And what they see in you will shape what they believe is possible for themselves.
A father who is alive, on purpose, and at peace gives his children something money cannot buy:
Permission to become who God made them to be.
Rise up, your purpose is your greatest provision.
